Jinotega, Nicaragua, July 1, 2007 - A group of men rests on the shores of Lago de Apanás outside of Jinotega, Nicaragua. The lake acts as a reservoir and was formed by damming the Tuma River just north of Jinotega city. Lake Apanás has an area of 20 square miles (51 square km). It supplies the Asturias hydroelectric station, the largest in the country and the focus of a power grid serving much of the more densely settled Pacific zone of Nicaragua.
